The thirteenth issue of “MISHPOHA” opens with the
poetry of Girsh Reles, the oldest Jewish writer of Belarus. Not so long
ago he has celebrated his 90-th anniversary.
Prose writer Grigory Kanovich is the guest of the traditional heading
“Autograph”. The writer’s stories and tales are full of Jewish small town
colouring and wisdom, laugh and tears. In this issue Grigory Kanovich
presents his story “Issac Der Mishunger”.
The story of Alexander Dragohrust “Crazy” takes the reader to the victorious
year of 1945. The Red Army officer, the Jew, who lost all his family in
war, falls in love with a German girl. Such a life situation.
The story of Marat Baskin “Black and White Photo” will for sure attract
the reader’s interest. The writer, who originally comes from Belarus,

addresses – first Belarus, then the USA.

Kushner is a Professor of Math at the University of Pittsburg. His verses
are surprisingly musical. Niel lives in Jerusalem. He is very neat and

Naum Kislik is not occasionally considered to be one of the most significant
poets, who returned from battlegrounds. The essay of Mikhail Shulmann

first time the magazine publishes verses from still unprinted book “Burden”.
For more than five centuries the Jews have been living in a small Polessye
town Narovlya. The famous Kiev writer Boris Handros tells about this place.
In a small Belarussian town Luzhki he had been known as Eli Perelmann.
Nowadays the whole world knows him as Eliser Ben-Iehudu, the person who

Vladimir Tsibin “The Second Birth of Hebrew” is dedicated to the life
and creative activity of Eliser Ben-Iehudu.
The young historian from Minsk, Alexander Fridmann, writes about the descendants
of the Brest Talmudist Shaul Valya – Karl Marks and Sir Benjamin Philips.
